The Persuasions Editor and Editorial Board have prepared an unprecedented third edition of Persuasions On-Line this year, once again making the latest in Austen scholarship available to the public.
This issue comes lessthan two months after completing the Spring 2018 bonus edition of Persuasions On-Line, Volume 38, No. 2: a collection of 22 essays offering fascinating new insights on Jane Austen’s Sanditon manuscript.
The essays included in the new Summer 2018 issue (Volume 38, No. 3) are from the "Immortal Austen” conference and the “Undisciplined Austen” research seminar hosted in July 2017 by the Flinders Institute for Research in the Humanities at Flinders University, South Australia. They explore a potpourri of topics, from Austen’s religious beliefs, to her use of musical accomplishment to denote social class and mobility, to the “attitudes” of mourning adopted by Anne Elliot and Mrs. Musgrove in Persuasion.
Many thanks to Persuasions Editor Susan Allen Ford, to her co-editors for this project, Gillian Dooley and Eric Parisot of Flinders University, to volunteers Marsh Huff, who proofread the essays, and Carol Moss, who converted them for online publication, and to the authors for sharing their work with the public.
